Our Men’s Breakfast Group attended Jewsons in Nuneaton this week to be presented with an enormously generous cheque for £1,000. The presentation was made by Kelly from Jewsons to Cohort 4 Director Maria, Jools and some of the men’s group. This generous donation will pay for the food costs for 12 months. In addition, Andy donated tea and coffee making items to Cohort 4. Again, highly valuable to group members who certainly know how to consume tea and coffee whilst socialising!
Our Men’s group is 7 years old now and men come from all over the North Warwickshire area, including Atherstone, Mancetter, Nuneaton and the villages. Though Cohort 4 is mainly women focused, we were asked to start a group by a couple of the men themselves, and they now enjoy a full English cooked breakfast each Monday morning. Their group eases loneliness and isolation, particularly valuable since the men are older in years, have a range of experiences including bereavement, mental wellbeing issues and learning difficulties as examples. They are such an upbeat and positive group, always there for each other and thanks to Neil and Jools, always leave their session full of food, tea and good spirits.
Thanks to Andy Astle, to the Stockingford Invitation Charity Cup committee and to Jewsons Nuneaton. This kind donation sponsors our men’s group for a considerable time as every £ will be used to nourish this great group of men. This is community kindness in action.
